Sainte-Barbe ChurchConsecrated in 1887, the church of Sainte-Barbe replaced the chapel of the same name, which has now become the Espace Ella Maillart, a museum dedicated to the intrepid explorer. As the tarmac road leading to the village was not built until 1960, the church bells had to be carried up from the plain on the backs of young bulls, which were less fearful than mules on the steep paths!
