Disentis/Mustér
High in the Rhine Valley, at the foot of the Oberalp Pass, Disentis (in German) or Mustér (in Romansh) is located in the Surselva district, a region of Graubünden that speaks Sursilvan, one of the Romansh dialects.

It is the site of one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Switzerland, founded in 720 and enlarged between 1696 and 1712 to become the present large abbey.

Mustér is in the heart of an ideal holiday region. In summer, more than 350km of signposted trails invite you to hike, for example along the "Senda Sursilvana", a trail that runs for almost 100km from the Oberalp Pass to Chur!

With a bit of luck, maybe you'll find crystals or even gold, as the whole region is rich in it...

In winter, Mustér is renowned as a freeride, off-piste and downhill skiing paradise, with 60km of pistes up to 3000m. And for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, there are also over 30 km of trails!

Needless to say, the scenery is simply sumptuous throughout the valley and in the heights!

Note that the Abbey of Disentis, where about thirty monks live, can be partly visited. It also includes an ethnographic, historical and natural history museum.
