Halfway between Gruyères and Gstaad at an altitude of 1,000 metres, Château-d'Oex is the principal town of the Pays-d'Enhaut ("Up there Country") and an ideal destination for all those seeking peace and relaxation through sport. Alpine flora and fauna abound in the beautiful scenery here.
Since time immemorial, visitors have mingled with the farmers and mountain artisans, whose splendid decorated chalets are such a feature of the local scene.
New: The ant trail, a 3.5 kilometre long exhibition and nature trail enabling a fascinating new world to be discovered. For keen hikers and walkers, the Via Ferrata between La Videmanette and Rougemont a delightfully welcoming village not far from Château-d'Oex, is now open, giving panoramic vistas of outstanding beauty.

In the Pays-d'Enhaut area the four ski resorts of Château-d'Oex, Rougemont, Rossinière and Les Mosses-La Lécherette, along with their cosy villages, beckon visitors for winter sports. The inhabitants of this area are particularly proud of its traditions which are lovingly maintained all year round.
At the same time, new trends and fun sports are also welcome here. The region is renowned for its hospitality and also for the impressive hot-air balloon flights over the snow-clad mountain landscape. The skiing region between 1000 and 3000 metres above sea level offers everything sports enthusiasts could want, from easy family slopes to steep demanding runs.
