The Julier Pass in the Albula range connects Silvaplana in the Engadine valley with Tiefencastel in the centre of the canton of Graubünden.
In Romansh it is Pass dal Güglia, in German Julierpass, in Italian Passo del Giulia. Located at 2284 metres above sea level, it is one of the four Swiss passes over 2000 m that are open all year round (along with the Simplon, Ofen and Bernina passes).
Snow tyres or chains are of course essential in winter, but during the summer season the pass presents no difficulties, the road is always more than 5 m wide and the maximum gradient is 12%, with an average of 4 to 6.7%.
