The Swiss call it Lake Lugano, but for the Italians it is Ceresio, and at its south-western tip there is a very picturesque village logically named Porto Ceresio, which you should not miss.
From the railway station and the regular boat landing stage, you can follow the lake promenade, which is partly suspended over the water. It is bordered by the gardens and old houses of the historic centre. It is a beautiful walk of more than two kilometres that takes you almost to the Swiss border.
Small squares, gardens, shops, restaurants and cafés invite you to stroll and take a relaxing break. For a dolce vita atmosphere on the shores of a lake with endless shades of blue, Porto Ceresio is an ideal destination.
