Grand Est
The Grand Est is a region covering the whole of eastern France, from Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany in the north to Switzerland in the south. In the east, the Rhine River forms the border with Germany, and in the south, the Sundgau region (southern Alsace) borders the Swiss cantons of Jura, Solothurn, Basel-Landschaft and Basel-City.

The Grand Est is an administrative region, not a geographical reality. Born from the new French territorial organisation of 2015, it groups together the former regions of Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine.

The Grand Est region includes 10 departments: Ardennes, Aube, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Alsace (Haut-Rhin and Bas-Rhin) and Vosges. Only the Haut-Rhin, whose main cities are Altkirch and Mulhouse, borders on Switzerland.

Our 2022 "Switzerland Tour outside Switzerland" passed through the Vosges and Alsace, with shootings along the way and, above all, many 360° panoramas in Eguisheim and Munster, in Alsace.

The Vosges is a medium-altitude mountain range whose highest point is the Grand Ballon, at 1424m. It is a very wooded massif interspersed with pastures, ideal for hiking during the summer.

Alsace is a large plain stretching from the Vosges to the Rhine, where a mild climate has allowed the development of a viticulture producing famous wines, mainly based on riesling, gewurztraminer and sylvaner for the whites and pinot noir for the reds.

We will probably return in 2023 to show you more!
