Val d'Anniviers
To the south of Sierre lies the Val d'Anniviers (Anniviers Valley), with its peaks topping out at over 4,000m.
The Anniviards used to farm in the mountains while growing vines on the plains. They led a semi-nomadic life, punctuated by the seasons, until the mid-twentieth century.
It wasn't until 1863 that Vissoie, which was something of a capital of the valley, was linked to the plain by a carriage road, while the road to Zinal wasn't opened until the middle of the 20th century.
The most famous tourist destinations are Vercorin, Grimentz and Zinal, which attract visitors all year round, but they are not the valley's only assets. The whole of the Val d'Anniviers has retained its authenticity, leaving a lasting impression on all visitors.
The places where we have shot panoramas are not available as virtual strolls with commentary. They display a selection of 2 or 3 beautiful views, and you can discover the full tour using the Street View images integrated in the panoramas.
We would like to thank Julien Petit (Sierre-Anniviers Marketing) and Aloys Bezinge (Anniviers Tourisme) for the tickets that enabled us to shoot many of these panoramas.
Highlights
Please note: Our 360° travel guide relocated in July 2023 from Montreux to Noës, just outside Sierre, and our shootings in Val d'Anniviers only began in August 2023. It is a work in progress, as is our section devoted to the Sierre region.
