Germany: Banks of the Rhine and Lake Constance

From Basel to the Austrian border, Switzerland is bordered on the north by Germany. The border follows the Rhine to the gates of Schaffhausen, then becomes tortuous up to Lake Constance, whose northern shore is German until the Austrian border.

This region is the southern part of Baden-Württemberg and it is full of surprises, from picturesque towns to high quality wines.

These panoramas were shot during our 2022 "Switzerland Tour Outside Switzerland", which you can discover on this page.

This Switzerland Tour beyond the borders, which crosses France, Germany, Austria and Italy, shows just how arbitrary borders can be. Sometimes, like along the Rhine in Bad Säckingen and Laufenburg, they do not even exist...

Many beautiful destinations are still missing and we hope to show you some more one day or another!
